Kent Hughes comments at potential upcoming trade by the Canadiens for a forward
The General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, agreed to discuss his plans for the upcoming weeks.
In an interview on BPM Sports, Tony Marinaro asked him if the team "as it is now" will be the same one that starts the season in October.
In other words, is Kent Hughes planning to make any more additions before the season begins?
Kent Hughes speaks in an interview about the possible upcoming transaction by the Montreal Canadiens, if applicable!
See Kent Hughes' exact response here.
"You want to know if there's a possibility of another trade? You want to know if we're working on the next transaction? I would never say no. I couldn't have told you in July that the trade for Patrik Laine would happen."
"I believe you always have to be flexible. You need to have discussions with other NHL GMs; you never know when a player suddenly becomes available on the trade market... Or if there's an injury and someone needs something, then we find a trade that can help our team... [There are many factors to consider]."
- Kent Hughes He added that, for the moment, there is nothing serious, but he remains absolutely on the lookout for possibilities on the trade market.
Notably, the situation with Trevor Zegras has yet to be resolved, and we know the Canadiens are interested.
Clearly, it seems Kent Hughes is frequently on the phone with other NHL General Managers, and he is constantly active.
We love hearing that!
He also mentioned that he really wanted to focus his efforts on the offense this summer, and it's understood that if he had to make another move (via trade or otherwise), it would be for a forward.
During this interview, we also learned that Kent Hughes received a warning from the NHL, involving defenseman John Klingberg:
We highly recommend the full segment.
