As we know, the name of forward Martin Necas has been associated with the Canadiens for a few weeks now, and some experts have started to reveal the price to pay for other NHL teams wanting to acquire him.
But according to the RDT site, it is very likely that the price to bring Necas to Montreal, or another quality top-6 forward, will be quite high, and it is very likely that Kent Hughes will have to part with one of his young defensemen in a potential trade.
At least that's the opinion of insider Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, who recently published and even proposed a realistic trade offer that Kent Hughes could make during the summer to bring reinforcements to the team.
This means that Logan Mailloux could be the young defenseman sacrificed for a top-6 forward, along with another prospect, Oliver Kapanen, and a current roster player from the Canadiens.
While we are well aware of Mailloux's potential, Kapanen had an excellent tournament with Finland at the World Hockey Championship, and some experts see him as a future second-line center with the Canadiens.
It will therefore be interesting to follow this case leading up to the NHL Draft presentation, which will take place in Vegas in less than a month, as this is the time when Kent Hughes has been active in the market over the past two years.
