Last night on TVA Sports, host and expert Jean-Charles Lajoie surprised everyone with a major statement.

It would be over for Cayden Primeau with the Canadiens according to him!

JiC is convinced, he said it clearly, Montreal has given up on the young Primeau. (Moreover, this was before knowing that Jake Allen would be in goal again today)

"If we haven't given up on him, why did we draft three goalies last year? Primeau, it's over. The organization doesn't want him anymore and doesn't know what to do with him. We're burning him badly." - Jean-Charles Lajoie

He continues:

"He doesn't play enough. It was only his 12th start [Thursday], it's not working. It's not enough." - Jean-Charles Lajoie

The end of Primeau in Montreal?

It's an article from TVA Sports that has caused a lot of buzz.

"I didn't like his game against the Penguins. He let in two bad goals, the first and the third. Does he let in bad goals because he's not good, or does he let in bad goals because he plays every two weeks? Or is it both?"

It makes you think, and we're not as convinced as JiC, but it's true that we can't confidently claim that Cayden Primeau has proven he is a consistent NHL goalie.

Having a Samuel Montembeault/Cayden Primeau duo next year could put a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Monty, probably more than if we go back to Jake Allen as the real number two goalie behind Montembeault.

Everyone talks about trading Allen, but what if the plan was rather to let go of Primeau?

If it were your decision, what would you do?
