Trevor Zegras traded to the Montreal Canadiens? Known journalist from The Athletic makes a big statement
It's obviously not the first time you've heard about it, but yes, some rumors do indeed send young star player Trevor Zegras to the Montreal Canadiens via trade.
He who is the best friend of a certain Cole Caufield has indeed been placed on the trade market, according to Frank Seravalli, and sources are sending him with the Habs. (and not only sources from Montreal)
A journalist far from Montreal sees the CH as a very possible destination for Trevor Zegras!
Well, we relatively often see Montreal media talk about Trevor Zegras, but when it comes from an NHL journalist (who has absolutely no interest in the Canadiens), it becomes very interesting.
In his text yesterday for The Athletic, Eric Duhatschek talked a bit about Zegras's case, and his conclusion was clear: the Canadiens and the Ducks "look like two potential partners" for a transaction involving Zegras."

He adds that Kent Hughes seems to have a big penchant for players Zegras's age and for players from the 2019 draft. (Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook, notably)
Also another major point: Kent Hughes is one of the few NHL GMs to have the necessary ammunition to make a good offer to the Ducks.
He has an abundance of draft picks (and 1st round picks) as well as an abundance of young defensemen, like Jordan Harris and Justin Barron.
This doesn't mean that a trade will definitely happen, but it proves that it's not a far-fetched scenario at all, especially since it starts to make noise outside of Montreal, which is major.
Let's also add the fact that Kent Hughes is shouting from the rooftops that he's looking to acquire good young forwards with high offensive potential.
Zegras is one!
