Surprise: a star goalie is reported to have requested a trade, and the Montreal Canadiens have a golden opportunity
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens might have a golden opportunity to get their hands on a solid young future star goalie.
According to several sources, including the Bruins Insider website, young Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman has reportedly requested a trade, due to family reasons and in pursuit of a new opportunity.
Does he want the chance to be a true number one goalie?
It's not a recent development. Many experts believe that the Bruins cannot keep their two star goalies in the long term, so they will obviously have to make a decision eventually. It seems inevitable.
Swayman, 24, has been one of the best goalies in the world since he entered the NHL. He boasts an impressive record.
He has accumulated 54 wins, 23 losses, 9 shutouts, an average of 2.24 goals allowed per game, and a career save percentage of 0.920.
He is currently a restricted free agent. He will undoubtedly want the big contract he deserves, but the Bruins may be very hesitant to pay two goalies high salaries. (Linus Ullmark is already earning 5 million per season until 2025)
Details to follow.
