Emotional scene as the Blue Jackets start the game with 4 players to honour Johnny Gaudreau
We just witnessed a very special moment live from Columbus during the matchup between the Blue Jackets and the Florida Panthers.
The Jackets started the game with only four players on the ice, leaving an empty spot at left wing, where Johnny Gaudreau would normally be (to the left of Sean Monahan).
An Incredible Tribute to Johnny Gaudreau, Live from Columbus
It's so beautiful and so sad at the same time. We are speechless.
«The Blue Jackets begin the game without a left winger. That's where Johnny Gaudreau would have been, of course.» - Aaron Portzline
«Sean Monahan took the opening faceoff against Sam Bennett, Gaudreau's former teammate in Calgary, and 13 seconds passed before the clock was stopped. Beautiful.» - Jeff Svoboda What a moment! It's truly Johnny Gaudreau night in Columbus:
«Tonight, we pay tribute to the lasting impact Johnny Gaudreau has had on hockey, the city of Columbus, his family, his friends, and his teammates, and all those who will continue to be inspired by his play.» - Columbus Blue Jackets
Let's remember that Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau tragically passed away on August 29th in a road accident, while they were cycling and were hit by a drunk driver.
We also want to acknowledge the Florida Panthers players, who gave 110% to make this moment absolutely unforgettable.
More details to follow.
