Wow: the Red Wings make a major announcement concerning Jeff Petry and it's a huge slap in the face
Wow.
Even though he was traded to his team of choice, in his city of choice, and thought he'd have a peaceful season, the former defenseman of the Montreal Canadiens, Jeff Petry, just got a slap in the face.
Having played only two brief games with the Detroit Red Wings, his new team, Petry has been pulled from the lineup. You read that right.
"The Wings are going with 12-6 tonight. Here's the lineup. Petry is left out on defense." - Sean Shapiro
It's a big surprise, especially considering the Red Wings really don't have a strong defense.
So, he will be watching tonight's game from the stands.
Petry, 35, played barely 16 minutes per game this season in Detroit (no points, a -2 differential, and four penalty minutes).
