After two rather productive seasons as the second-line center for the Los Angeles Kings, Phillip Danault is perfectly happy with the Californian organization.

Not only has he had his best seasons in terms of goals, but his line plays against the best elements of other teams, a role that Danault knew well when he played with the Canadiens.

However, as reported by Keven Mawn, from the website GoNordiques.com, things might change for 2023-2024.

A few days ago, the Kings organization announced that veteran Anze Kopitar had agreed on the terms of a new two-year contract with which he should end his career with the organization that drafted him in 2005.

Add to this the arrival of Pierre-Luc Dubois, it is very likely that Danault will be relegated to a third line, which he would probably not be happy about, as he left Montreal for a more important role with the Kings.

Well, it is still early to come to this conclusion, but if we look at the Kings' center line, it is very likely that Kopitar and Dubois will be the first two centers for the Kings to start the season.

It must be said that a hockey season is very long and there will certainly be players on the injured list, but at first glance, we might expect the former Canadiens player to start the season on the third line.

But as the Kings have great depth, Danault will nevertheless certainly play an important role in the team's success, which will be one of the best in the Western Conference for the upcoming season.
