In comparison to the Habs, the Chicago Blackhawks are also having a tough year. Hockey-wise, the team is ranked 24th overall with a 15-20-7 record. However, off the ice, the organization has taken a lot of heat for the Kyle Beach scandal.
This would be the fifth consecutive year the Hawks have not made the playoffs if they do not qualify this year. With that in mind, it is possible that the organization will make major changes to its roster. One of the names that is currently circulating is that of winger Alex DeBrincat.
According to information reported by Elliotte Friedman, the renowned journalist at Sportsnet mentions that the Blackhawks would not want to part with the talented 24-year-old forward. However, if a huge offer is made, a transaction could happen.
DeBrincat is a natural scorer. He has already scored 143 goals in five seasons in the NHL. His best season was in 2018-2019 with 41 goals and he's not even 25 yet!
Is this the kind of player that could interest Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton? Could the Habs make an offer to the Blackhawks for DeBrincat?
