There have been numerous trade rumors between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers, involving young Jesse Puljujarvi.

Joel Edmundson's name has also surfaced in these rumours on numerous occasions, but there have never really been any concrete offers from credible sources.

Finally a concrete offer

In the last few hours, the reputable David Pagnotta has been putting together the inside information he has obtained and he has put forward the following proposal:

They're really targeting Joel Edmundson, who makes 3.5 million a season.

The Oilers would send Jesse Puljujarvi and a 2023 first-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens, and the CH would withhold the $500,000 needed (from Edmundson's contract) to make this trade work.

It is explained here that the Oilers would only have a budget of $3 million to acquire a defenseman. And they definitely want to add to their blue line by March 3.

So Edmundson is a logical target for them, not to mention that the Oilers and CH made a similar trade together last year, but including Brett Kulak.

More details will follow.
