In the first meeting between the two teams last November, it was Kirby Dach who gave the Canadiens the victory with the decisive goal during the shootout.
Number 77 is already having the best season of his NHL career and as Marc-Olivier Cook of Danslescoulisses.com reports, one of his former teammates with the Blackhawks is not at all surprised at his success with his new team.
During the Montreal-Chicago showdown, Patrick Kane spoke with The Athletic reporter Mark Lazerus to praise the young CH forward. However, he also flayed the Blackhawks organization regarding Kirby Dach's development, mentioning that the team hasn't done it right in this matter.
Major trade made between the CH and Blackhawks last summer: victory to Kent Hughes
After just three seasons in Chicago, Dach was traded to the Habs in the first round of the last draft. He already has 35 points in 53 games this season. That would make him the Blackhawks' leading scorer this season tied with Max Domi.
Going back to Patrick Kane's comments, he doesn't really seem happy with the way the team has handled the Dach's development. It's understandable, after all, the Hawks are rebuilding and they really could have built around a guy like him.
Kane added that he was happy to see Dach get a real opportunity to showcase himself, playing big minutes and developing at the center position.
That being said, you can sense that the Blackhawks' #88 is a little bitter, not only because of Dach's departure for Montreal, but also because the Rangers preferred Vladimir Tarasenko of the St. Louis Blues to him, when many rumors were sending him to New York before the trade deadline.
Now that it would be quite surprising for the Rangers to acquire him, the last rumors were sending Patrick Kane to Dallas, while other sources mentioned that it was very likely that he would stay with the Blackhawks until the end of the season.
Kane doesn't seem fan of the Hawks' management:
We're about two weeks away from the trade deadline and it will be interesting to follow this one to see if Kane will leave the organization that drafted him at the very first pick in 2007.
