The term chronic traumatic encephalopathy has become increasingly popular in the sports world, particularly following the movie Concussion.
In particular, soccer players have been targeted by numerous troubling findings and measurements, related to CTE, in recent hours.
As my colleague Vincent Fournier mentions very well, a CTE is defined as a progressive degeneration of brain cells following numerous head injuries.
Heavy cases of CTE in the hockey world too.
TSN has just published a shocking article that is a real thunderclap in the hockey world, and could mark a turning point in history.
CTE cases aren't just in soccer.
According to these recent major findings, and after extensive studies, we have just learned that out of 14 brains of former NHL players that were studied by researchers, 13 suffered from CTE.
13 out of 14! That's incredibly high.
One example in the article is Marek Svatos, a player who was not a fighter at all and suffered from CTE.
It's really disturbing.
