Our attention is currently focused 99% on the National Hockey League Entry Draft, which will be held at the Bell Centre in less than a week, but shortly after that, another big step will take place, namely the opening of the free-agent market.
One of the big issues we are keeping our eye on is the next contract of Kris Letang, who will obviously be signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins or with the Montreal Canadiens and Kent Hughes.
In any case, his demands are clear
"Kris Letang wants a five-season pact, and an annual value of over $8 million." - Josh Yohe
Clearly, the team that offers Letang that, will have him on their team next year. Will it be Pittsburgh? Montreal? Another organization? To be continued!
Would you offer Kris Letang such a contract? A 5-year contract worth over $40 million in total?
Letang, a 35 year old Montreal native, had 68 points in 78 games last season with the Penguins (and 4 points in 7 playoff games).
The previous season, he had 45 points in 55 games.
More details to follow!
