The Minnesota Wild have agreed on the terms of a one-season contract, worth $900,000, with defenseman Jordie Benn.
The older brother of Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars had been acquired by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2016-2017 season. He then joined the Canucks as an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019, before being traded to the Winnipeg Jets at the most recent trade deadline.
The 34-year-old defenseman has a total of 127 points, including 24 goals, in 556 career NHL games.
Benn is in his final moments in the Bettman circuit. He will have a depth role with the Wild, who have an excellent defense. He had some good times with the Habs, when Montreal had very few left side choices on the blue line.
