We told you about it in the last few minutes, things are getting complicated for Pierre-Luc Dubois and the Winnipeg Jets, as the latter has made it clear that he intends to become a free agent in two years (the sooner the better for him)
That's all it took for some people to start hoping to see him in a Montreal Canadiens uniform:
Imagine the scenario!
And if Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton don't want to wait until 2024, there is always the option to acquire him via trade. Unless there's a big turnaround, you can't help but expect the Jets to try to trade him. (They won't want to lose him "for nothing" to free agency)
So the excellent Marco D'Amico of Montreal hockey now has put forward a trade proposal that would make sense for Winnipeg and Montreal, should the CH really want to acquire P-L Dubois.
What might Kent Hughes have to offer the Jets?
"The Jets would likely ask for a top prospect like Kaiden Guhle, Calgary's first-round pick, a center like Christian Dvorak and maybe more in a trade for their young center, and that's just not a price the Habs should consider at this point." - Marco D'Amico The Jets will be greedy.
He actually believes that, considering the price, the Habs shouldn't go for that "derby" if there really is one this summer. In any case, the team isn't likely to be one Dubois away from winning the Cup next year, so they can afford to be patient and wait until 2024.
After all, if Dubois really wants to come to Montreal, he will do so in two years.
Still, for the sake of it, let's ask the question:
IN MONTREAL - Pierre-Luc Dubois
AT WINNIPEG - Kaiden Guhle + Calgary's 2022 first round pick + Christian Dvorak
Would you do it right now?
