When Martin St-Louis was appointed interim head coach of the Canadiens, the team's new management had decided to keep all the assistants in place, in order to allow the new coach to integrate well.

We can say that his debut as a coach is quite successful, the Habs are playing, by far, their best hockey of the season.

The future of Martin St-Louis as head coach in Montreal was discussed during the podcast Temps d'Arrêt, on TVA Sports, by the host Louis Jean and former Canadiens defender Alexandre Picard.

According to the latter, if St-Louis wants to keep his full-time position, he will have to surround himself with experienced assistants.

And there's one name that came out of the discussion, the one of current Dallas Stars head coach Rick Bowness.

«This season, the team does not need to perform. It will be different next season when there are expectations and you have to win. For the years to come, it will therefore be necessary to surround him with experienced coaches. When I think of who this mentor could be, one name comes to mind: Rick Bowness. I know he's currently with the Dallas Stars, but if he were ever fired, he would have the perfect profile to help St. Louis."

Bowness had also led his team to the Stanley Cup final in the 2020 playoffs and strangely, he was then interim head coach, just like Martin St-Louis currently.

Is there a connection to be made between the two?

Probably not, but the addition of an experienced hockey man like Bowness could be very beneficial for the Canadian.

Do you like the idea of bringing a guy like Rick Bowness to maybe come and support Martin St-Louis?
