Juraj Slafkovsky's skill set is improving with each game and he is clearly becoming more and more acclimated to the NHL.
His goal against the Arizona Coyotes, before he had to sit out three games with an upper body injury, gave him a confidence in his game that he hadn't fully had since arriving in Montreal.
In fact, as prospect expert Grant McCagg testifies, a sequence in yesterday's game against the St. Louis Blues totally demonstrates the big Slovak's reinvigorated confidence and why he was selected first overall in the last draft.
"That sequence from Slafkovsky was his best so far as a rookie. He also threw a pass between the legs that showed his newfound confidence. It was turnovers like this one that I saw last year that made him the undisputed No. 1 for me." - Grant McCagg
What was pleasing to see in the video McCagg illustrated was that Slaf wasn't afraid to use his creativity to create offense, and he used his imposing physique and relentlessness to get the puck away from the opposition on several occasions, leading to a shot on net for the Habs.
The Tricolore's number 20 also had a number of power play opportunities, which led to his second goal of the season.
He is proving his organization right for selecting him at the very first pick of the draft and starting the year in Montreal.
