Tomorrow night at 7:00 pm, the New York Rangers take on the Lightning in Tampa Bay, and for the occasion, their head coach Gerard Gallant has made a noticeable change to his lineup:
"Absolutely criminal that Lafreniere didn't get a chance to shine with the Rangers. They've let this kid rot on the third line for his entire career so far and now he's practicing with the fourth line. Give him a chance or trade him." - Daniel Friedman
See the full lineup:
Kreider - Zib - Kakko
Panarin - Trocheck - Goodrow
Kravtsov - Chytil - Gauthier
Lafreniere/Blais - Brodzinski - Vesey
You read that right. Alexis Lafreniere is now on the Rangers' fourth line, alternating with Sammy Blais. A decision that is causing a huge stir in New York, and it's quite a shock!
Lafreniere, 21, was drafted 1st overall in 2020. He has 17 points in 36 games this season (69 points in 171 career NHL games).
