We suspected it with the recent hints we had, but it is now officially confirmed. The Montreal Canadiens will be able to count on the services of Quebec defenseman David Savard, who will be back in action tonight against the Nashville Preds.
"David Savard will be back in action tonight.
He will be playing his first game since December 3. He has missed his team's last 13 games.
Savard will talk to us in a few minutes" - Patrick Friolet
"David Savard will return to the game tonight. The Habs have maintained a 3-8-2 record in his absence. The CH season really took a turn for the worse when he and Monahan went down. Let's see what kind of help he can provide to a very young defensive squad." - Marc Antoine Godin
This will certainly be a much-appreciated backup for Martin St-Louis and his crew as they look to get back to winning ways tonight.
Savard, 32, has eight points in 24 games this season with the Habs. He is one of the NHL leaders in blocked shots.
More details to follow.
