Andrei Svechnikov just signed a monster eight-year deal that will pay him an average of $7.75 million annually with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Svechnikov, 21, has three full seasons under his belt and remains one of the Carolina Hurricanes' key players. In his rookie year, he recorded 37 points, including 20 goals, in 82 games. In the battle for the Calder Trophy, he finished 7th.
In his last two years, he had 61 points in 68 games and 42 in 55 games. In the playoffs, he was a key player in the group with 5 (9 games), 7 (6 games) and 8 points in the last spring dance.
When I watch Svechnikov, I am always amazed by his foot speed and above average acceleration. He is very agile, creative and has a very sharp shot, making him a constant threat. In short, this is a great move by the organization.
