The process for hiring the next Executive Director continues to progress, but the position remains vacant. We know that the first round of interviews took place this week and that those who were most impressed will be given a second interview very soon.
But what is most surprising is that Kent Hughes, who was one of the candidates interviewed in the first round of interviews, reportedly suggested another candidate to meet with the committee in charge of deciding on the next general manager of the Habs. Hughes would have proposed the name of Philippe Lecavalier.
Philippe Lecavalier is the brother of Vincent Lecavalier who had a great career with the Tampa Bay Lightning. It would seem that the Canadiens would have discussed internally the possibility of meeting with him.
History does not say whether it is for the position of GM that he could be met or whether it is for another position in the organization. We also know that Jeff Gorton had a great deal of respect for Kent Hughes, and that is perhaps why he would agree to give Lecavalier an interview.
Both player agents worked for the same agency, Quartexx Management. Would a collaboration within the Red, White, and Blue organization between the two hockey men be considered?
This will be an issue to be closely monitored in the coming days.
