The Anaheim Ducks have made a rather peculiar decision ahead of their game tonight against the Winnipeg Jets. Head coach Dallas Eakins decided to leave Quebecer Maxime Comtois in the stands at the Canada Life Centre.
Comtois has no points in four games and has maintained a -5 rating since the beginning of the 2021-2022 season. These numbers could justify such an outcome for the Ducks' number 44. He led the Ducks in scoring last year with 33 points in 55 games.
However, according to a rumor, Comtois would not play tonight to avoid an injury in view of a possible trade with the Buffalo Sabres. The Ducks have been involved in the Jack Eichel derby for quite some time, and they could have a lot of interesting pieces to offer Kevyn Adams.
The two teams could likely help each other in their rebuilding process. Just imagine the Ducks before long if they were to acquire Eichel's services along with Zegras, McTavish, Terry and co.
