The Montreal Canadiens extended the contract of Finnish forward Artturi Lehkonen for 1 year. The deal will pay him $2.3 million.
Lehkonen, 26, was a restricted free agent since July 28. The left winger has been a great asset to the Montreal Canadiens for the first five seasons of his career.
He formed a very effective defensive trio alongside Phillip Danault and Brendan Gallagher in the playoffs, and scored the goal that propelled the Tricolore to the Stanley Cup Final.
In 338 NHL games, #62 has 120 points, including 61 goals. Lehkonen is primarily known for his defensive zone skills, while scoring between 10 and 20 goals per season, generally. He is the kind of player that can be used in any way, which is very much appreciated in a team.
Good signing from the Montreal Canadiens!
