The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to terms with Finnish defenseman Sami Niku on a one-season, $750,000 two-way deal.
In Sami Niku, the CH just got their hands on a very promising offensive quarterback. The Winnipeg Jets recently terminated his contract on a mutual basis so that Niku would have a real chance to make his mark.
Niku, 24, scored 10 points in 54 games since joining the NHL in 2017. Recall that he scored his first career goal against the Canadiens in 2017-2018.
Obviously, Marc Bergevin has heard our prayers, as earlier this week, we had proposed the services of Niku to the Montreal Canadiens. Click the link for everything you need to know about the Canadiens' new acquisition.
