Breaking news announcement: two players have just left the Canadiens organization, including one surprise
In the last few minutes, as notably reported by the excellent Anthony Marcotte, two players have officially left the fold of the Montreal Canadiens.
Having not received satisfactory contract offers from Kent Hughes, Peter Abbandonato and Tory Dello have signed elsewhere.
"Peter Abbandonato and Tory Dello, who have been key pieces of the Rocket for two years, have accepted contracts with the Chicago Wolves for the upcoming season. The Wolves will be the only independent team without a direct association with an NHL club in '23-'24." - Anthony Marcotte
Another Quebecer, greatly appreciated by the organization, is thus leaving, and it's a surprise to see Abbandonato leave like this. He was literally at home here.
At 25 years old, Abbandonato, originally from Laval, scored 46 points in 66 games last season with the Rocket. He had a solid campaign.
Clearly, this is a loss for the team.
Also worth noting is that defenseman Tory Dello is also leaving the Rocket to join the Wolves.
Dello, 26 years old, scored 15 points in 48 matches for the Rocket last season.
