Cole Caufield was demoted to the Laval Rocket yesterday. A decision that did not seem to please the main interested party, which is legitimate.
A little preview here :
He has only collected one assist in ten games with the big club this year. He's obviously not in full possession of his skills. That's why he'll have to channel his frustration into motivation to be successful. He can sulk, that's normal, but he will have to work hard to develop and show that he belongs in the NHL, while being patient with himself.
The young American did however get a significant wave of support from those close to him, including a certain Corey Perry. The former Habs forward, now a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning, has made a point of taking care of his former protégé. Perry texted him yesterday to tell him that it was normal what happened to him and not to worry about it.
Caufield was spoiled when he arrived in Laval. He will have good teammates to help him regain his confidence. He was molded to the right of Ryan Poehling and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, a triple that could cause havoc.
