Anaheim Ducks head coach Dallas Eakins announced this afternoon that Quebec forward Maxime Comtois will miss his turn tonight against the New Jersey Devils.

The 22-year-old forward has been struggling this season with zero points in 9 games and a minus-8 rating. This will be the second time he has been left out of the lineup since the beginning of the season.

Comtois finished first in scoring for the Ducks last year with 33 points in 55 games. What could have happened? The famous second season jinx? A lack of confidence? One thing is for sure, if a young man of his talent is to have his confidence returned, the answer will not be found in the stands. He must play to perform.

Perhaps a relegation to the minors alongside Joël Bouchard could be in order? Comtois is exempt from waivers this year. Could he go play in San Diego to get his confidence back?

If the Anaheim Ducks are no longer interested in Comtois' services, I'm sure that a certain Marc Bergevin could be interested in the Quebecer's services. Bergevin had the opportunity to pick the Quebecer in the first round in the 2017 draft, but he didn't. He set his sight on Ryan Poehling, while Comtois was still available.

Comtois is a young man of character and has great leadership. Teams must necessarily call Anaheim to inquire about his availability. It doesn't make sense, he needs to play to continue his development.
