Forward Corey Perry has agreed to a two-year contract with an $1 million AAV with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

This is a big loss for the Montreal Canadiens, as Corey Perry was an undisputed leader in the dressing room. The 36-year-old veteran amazed fans and teammates alike during his time in Montreal.

The Peterborough, Ontario native had a total of 21 points, including 9 goals, in 49 regular season games last year. He also added 10 points in 22 playoff games.

Some players will have to step up in the dressing room next year, considering the departures of Perry, Staal, Danault and Tatar. The Habs will obviously have a whole new look.

It's easy to deduce that Marc Bergevin only offered Perry one season. For a veteran at the end of his career, it's always more attractive to have a few seasons of insurance on his contract. It's a legitimate decision by Perry, especially since the Lightning have a strong case for attracting players...

THANK YOU, Corey Perry, for your determination and incredible energy! ❤
