The Edmonton Oilers are falling apart as a result of a smoking season. The team led by Connor McDavid has only two wins in its last 12 duels, which is almost as atrocious as the Montreal Canadiens.
On Monday night, the Oilers lost 4-1 to the New York Rangers, who played a good game. It was between the posts that it didn't go well, while Mikko Koskinen was more than average. The pilot was not afraid to publicly blame him after the meeting:
«We did a lot of good tonight, but our goalie wasn't very good. Also, we didn't send enough pucks into the net to hope to get back in the game.»
Tippett really didn't like the performance in front of the net, which allowed Alexis Lafrenière to slip on the needle:
«It was a blunt mistake. It has to be said as it is. We played well, it was a blunt mistake!»
In short, when a coach goes so deeply into his remarks, it is not uncommon for him to be fired soon after such an outing. If Tippett leaves, let's bring John Tortorella to Edmonton, he could change McDavid's style of play (wink)!
