After the daily practice session, David Savard went before the media to defend his head coach.
Savard was clear: the structure is there, it's us, the players, who don't execute it. So there is a problem, but it's not a structure problem. So what the hell is the problem?
Some say that Dominique Ducharme is not an NHL coach. That he's good with youth in a lower league, or even as an assistant in the Bettman league, but as a head coach, no.
Yet, as recently as last July, he showed how well he could handle the situation. Although a certain Shea Weber was there, then, in my eyes, he was a big part of it. He was the perfect bridge between the coach and the players.
Remember this: Shea Weber's hug to Dom Ducharme in Seattle is very telling. The two men had a close relationship, but now Ducharme's big ally is no longer there.
