Their goal here is to get their hands on pieces that will help them in the short term, if not, an established player or players.
Finally, as you know, the Devils were very lucky in the lottery. Their first round pick became very valuable and became the second overall pick.
So the question many have been asking since then is, did this change Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald's plans? Now that their first round pick has become the second overall, will they decide to keep it?
Today we have the answer.
As my colleague Christian Matte (Marqueur.com) reports, on last night's Avalanche/Blues game broadcast, the highly regarded Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet) confirmed that the Devils haven't changed their minds.
They are still open to trading their first pick. (second overall)
Friedman added that they are currently compiling a list of players they would be willing to trade their pick for.
Would Kent Hughes and the Habs be interested? It would be amazing to have BOTH first overall picks announced in the middle of the Bell Centre.
We could add two players among Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovsky, Logan Cooley and company. However, they will certainly want important pieces of the Tricolore, so the chances of that happening are very low.
Remember that David Ettedgui launched on his social networks his dream. This dream is to see the CH deal with the New Jersey Devils, in order to obtain, in addition to the first, their second choice to reunite the Wright/Slafkovsky duo.
Even if it is possible, this dream is unlikely to happen. Ettedgui asks, however, what fans would be willing to give up in order to get that second pick. Here's what came out:
And you, what would be your offer?
