The trade deadline is fast approaching in the National Hockey League and general managers will have some big decisions to make.
That obviously includes Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
The Habs general manager will have to decide on the future of some of his club's 2023 autonomous players, like Sean Monahan.
On this subject, the excellent journalist Eric Engels, who covers the activities of the Montreal Canadiens for Sportsnet, made a monster statement.
Why monster? Because it is very clear and direct, and it would obviously be major.
"The Canadiens will trade Sean Monahan before the trade deadline, unless he gets seriously injured." - Eric Engels
Wow, and this is coming from a knowledgeable person. You be the judge, but this will definitely be a big one to watch.
Currently sidelined, Monahan is expected to return to action in two weeks. In 25 games this season, the former sixth overall pick of the Calgary Flames had a solid 17 points.
Of course, it's worth remembering that he was acquired by Kent Hughes, along with a first round pick, for future considerations. And now, he could possibly bring back ANOTHER first round pick to the Habs.
What solid management from Kent Hughes!
If it was your decision, what would you do? Trade Monahan for a first round pick or sign him long term and give him a big contract?
