A real surprise on this National Hockey League draft night, live from the Bell Centre, when the Montreal Canadiens drafted Juraj Slafkovsky.

In addition, general manager Kent Hughes has just acquired another 6 foot 4 inch forward in Kirby Dach (a center).

Dach is 21 years old, hails from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and was selected 3rd overall in the 2019 draft.

At 6 feet 4 inches / 197 pounds, he is imposing and has immense potential. In his rookie season in Chicago, he had 23 points and 8 goals, in 64 games. (in 2019-20) He then looked ready to move to the next level, to become a young star player, but a serious wrist injury caused him to miss a lot of action and delayed everything.

He played 18 games in 2020-21 and 70 games last season in 2021-22. (9 goals and 26 points)

For more complete comments:

"He's big, skates well and is strong on the puck, something that should improve further as he gets more experience. He is a great passer but needs to learn to take more shots to prevent opponents from dropping him into coverage. He has been plagued by major injuries, particularly to his wrist.

Solid long term potential, a high ceiling.

A passing, playmaking center with great field hockey intelligence and solid puck skills. Uses his body well to protect the puck and exploit openings."

You can see him in action in the video below:
