Niinimaa, acquired from the Dallas Stars in the Mike Ribeiro trade, is once again making headlines for the wrong reasons today.
The verdict has indeed been delivered. The player who has appeared in 741 regular season NHL games is guilty of fraud. A serious crime everywhere, but especially there.
Prosecutors in Helsinki accused Niinimaa of intentionally failing to pay his taxes over a long period. He owes them a lot of money.

According to CapFriendly, he would have earned $19.35 million during his career in North America.
So, unfortunately, it's another former Habs player who has criminal troubles with the law.
