Saturday night was the grand finale of the NCAA playoff tournament, the so-called Frozen Four. It was the University of Denver Pioneers who ultimately won the tournament with a 5-1 victory over the Minnesota State Mavericks.

Among the winners was Canadian prospect Brett Stapley. The organization that drafted him in the seventh round (190th overall) in the 2018 draft made a point of congratulating their protégé.

Asked about his future, the 23-year-old, who was in his fourth season in the NCAA, was willing to answer following his team's victory.

"It would obviously be a dream to receive an offer from the Habs" - Brett Stapley

Stapley could emulate Jordan Harris, Joshua Roy, Lucas Condotta and Emil Heineman who all signed entry-level contracts with the CH recently. He could also get a professional tryout contract and finish the season with the Laval Rocket.

In 41 games this season, the 5-foot-10 right-handed center has 18 goals and 25 assists in the NCAA for a total of 43 points.
