The Montreal Canadiens are not doing well at the start of the 2021-2022 season. The team is not scoring and is sorely lacking in work ethic on the ice. However, these failures are not only on the offensive side, but on many other aspects.
The Montreal team is 32nd and last in goals scored with three and on the power play with zero goals in 13 chances.
The special units are slow to get going, not only on the power play, but also with one man down. The team ranks 29th in the NHL in this regard, with seven goals allowed on 17 shorthanded situations.
Montreal is also averaging nearly four goals per game, tenth most of any team in the league.
The center players aren't getting the job done either. The Habs have won only 47% of their total faceoffs, a percentage that is far too low. How can the team score goals if they can't get possession of the puck from the start?
Dominique Ducharme and his coaching staff will have their work cut out for them.
