Although the Canadiens' training camp is a few days young, Kent Hughes is still working to improve his team for the regular season, which begins on October 12.
It's not yet known what changes Hughes might make to his roster, but as reported by Mark Suciu of Habsolumentfan.com, it could very well be that the Habs general manager is dipping into the waivers to acquire an interesting name.
It could happen soon because the massive waves of cuts are fast approaching, as well as the many names in the waiver wire.
At least that's what hockey columnist Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now mentioned. It's worth mentioning that some teams will have to submit some of their players to waivers, and since the Habs finished last overall last year, Hughes will have priority when it comes time to claim a player.
According to D'Amico, it is very likely that the Habs will claim a defenseman, especially since the loss of a certain Joel Edmundson who was injured just before the opening of training camp. The latter is injured in the lower body and his absence is indefinite for now.
What do you think?
Let's remember that some surprising players will soon be placed on waivers.
