For the past few weeks, trade rumors involving Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have been picking up, simply because December is coming up, and generally, it's a fertile time of year in the trade market.
We actually had two trades to announce this week.
Trade imminent for Habs?
Yesterday, the Tricolore's general manager agreed to talk to TVA Sports reporter Anthony Martineau about the subject, and he made a very interesting statement.
Asked if a trade is currently on the table for the Habs, see the very transparent answer from the GM:
So, has Hughes tried to make any trades recently?
"Yes," he answers as honestly as he can. We're always in discussions with other teams. I've had several conversations in the car today. We're still at a point where the first quarter of the season is behind us. All the clubs are starting to make calls to inquire about the availability of certain players."

We note a very important line here: "I had several conversations in the car today. First, wow!
It's major and incredible to have a general manager who reveals this kind of information, we love it! It's almost unheard of in Montreal.
Secondly, of course it's a sentence that spices our curiosity. Kent Hughes talked about a possible transaction yesterday in his car with another NHL general manager.
Which player is involved here? Is an announcement imminent? Who was on the other end of the phone?
We don't know, but there is a lot of talk behind the scenes, and don't be surprised if the Montreal Canadiens eventually announce a trade.
Names like Evgenii Dadonov, Mike Hoffman, Joel Edmundson, Christian Dvorak and Sean Monahan seem to be among the most likely to leave.
"In recent weeks, there have been several rumors that the Canadiens were trying to trade some players, particularly to free up space on their payroll.
What better way to validate/confirm these speculations than to go directly to the source!"

Solid work! What would your prediction be?
