So far this season, the former first overall pick of the Habs in 2018 has just three points in 16 games, despite playing on a trio with Martin Necas and Andrei Svechnikov for quite some time this year.
With a contract worth $38.56 million over eight years, that's a lot of money. Even a Montreal journalist, Jack Todd, recently apologized to Marc Bergevin for criticizing him on the management of the Kotkaniemi file.
By the way, on this subject, you can read the excellent article:
But let's play a little game here. If Jesperi Kotkaniemi were still with the Habs, where would you see him in the lineup? Some would say on the third or fourth line, but for a former Habs fan, the Finnish forward wouldn't even be a regular in the lineup.
On BPM Sports, Georges Laraque and Max Truman discussed Kotkaniemi following the Hurricanes 7-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night. KK had no points in the game and the former CH tough guy made a pretty strong statement about him at the end of the clip below.
Ayayaye! Kotkaniemi with the Laval Rocket. Even though he is not off to a great start this season, it's pretty hard to believe that the Habs organization would have sent him back to the minors at the age of 22.
But hey, this is just speculation here and we hope that the former number 15 can bounce back and finally get his breakthrough in the NHL.
Still, it's an intriguing and interesting debate.
