The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Philadelphia Flyers have just concluded a one-versus-one deal, Jakub Voracek, who will return to his roots, in return for Cam Atkinson.

Jakub Voracek is 31 years old and has three years left on his current contract, which pays him an average of $8.25 million annually. With this amount, he obviously becomes the Columbus Blue Jackets' highest paid player.

Voracek was one of the many redheads who played for the Philadelphia Flyers, but he will now be playing in Columbus, away from his redheaded buddies Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier. Some say he has slowed down, but he still had 43 points in 53 games in 2021. He had his best campaign in 2017-18 with a total of 85 points.

In the case of Cam Atkinson, who is 32 years old, he has four years left on his current deal that pays him an average of $5.875 million per campaign. In the 2018-19 season, he flashed the red light 41 times (69 points) in 80 games. During the shortened schedule, he picked up 34 points, including 15 goals, in 56 games.

Note that no part of Voracek's salary was withheld by the Philadelphia Flyers, who have yet to find a solution to reduce their payroll. They want a new identity and are working hard to achieve it.
