According to many rumors that have been circulating on social media lately, Ben Chiarot is the player most likely to be traded by the Habs.

The defenseman is currently running out the final year of a three-year, $3.5 million contract signed in 2019. There's a good chance he won't be back in a Red, White, and Blue uniform next year.

Chiarot's value is very good on the market, as well as his usefulness, so teams are likely to be knocking on the Habs' door in droves before long.

A few days ago, my colleague Zacharie Gingras-Tourangeau reported that the Florida Panthers could have the number 8 in their sights.

However, according to Grant McCagg, a former NHL scout, it would be surprising if the Panthers could afford Chiarot. The reason? They don't have a first round pick in 2022 (Sam Reinhart trade) and they don't have any very interesting prospects in his eyes.

Instead, he sees the Edmonton Oilers acquiring the services of Chiarot, who have a certain Xavier Bourgault in their organization.

The young center could be the core of a possible deal involving Chiarot. He is young (19 years old), he is fast, he is from Quebec and he is talented. There is no doubt that he could interest Jeff Gorton, who advocates talented and fast teams.

Bourgault and another element in return for Ben Chiarot, would you do it?
