Aside from the Montreal Canadiens' eventual first pick in the upcoming draft, there's very little to be excited about the 2021-2022 season. Dominique Ducharme's team is currently languishing in 31st place overall in the NHL.
In addition, the organization is plagued with injuries.
In short, it's a disaster!
However, there is a small victory to celebrate. Even if his ethics often leave something to be desired, Jonathan Drouin is having a rather interesting season offensively, despite the lack of support on offense.
The Quebecer accumulated no less than 16 points, including 5 goals, in 24 games. At this rate, the number 92 would be on his way to accumulating a total of 55 points over an 82-game season. He is even the Habs' leading scorer in terms of average points per game. Pretty impressive under the circumstances.
This would be his best season in terms of points per season and his best season offensively in a CH uniform. Recall that Drouin has two 53-point seasons behind the tie, one with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2016-2017 and the other with the CH in 2018-2019.
Obviously his time away from the team last year was beneficial to his game. A nice comeback for the Sainte-Agathe native.
