Although he has had some difficulties on the ice since his arrival with the club, Jonathan Drouin has been irreproachable off the ice. From his first days with the CH, he made a commitment to the Fondation du CHUM. He promised to donate $500,000 from his own pocket over a 10-year period.
A few days ago, we learned that the Quebecer had kept his word, having donated more than $300,000 from his own pocket to the foundation as of March 31, 2022. Despite this nice gesture, we unfortunately noticed that some fans found a way to criticize the forward.
Let's forget about these negatives and get back to the goodness of Drouin. The latter showed once again this Tuesday why he is an example to follow off the ice. Although he was under no obligation to do so, he took the time before leaving the Bell Centre following the club's morning practice to meet and greet the young Ukrainian players who are participating in the Quebec City Pee-Wee tournament.
And he didn't just stop by. He took time with each player, taking care to sign all the autographs requested.
It's this kind of gesture, which usually goes unnoticed, that proves Drouin is a great man. There have been many times when he could have walked away because of criticism of his play or his involvement in the community. He never did, which tells us he's in it for the right reasons and not just to get his check at the end of the month!
