Last night, Joshua Roy and the Sherbrooke Phoenix were eliminated from the QMJHL playoffs by the Charlottetown Islanders, and that means that Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy could soon sign a trial contract with the Laval Rocket.
He is expected to join the Rocket to finish the 2022 playoffs.
The Montreal Canadiens 5th round pick in 2021 had an impressive 23 points in 11 playoff games this season, really impressive.
As reported by the excellent Stéphane Leroux (RDS), who knows junior field hockey and the Rocket very well, the youngster's intentions are clear:
Joshua Roy: "If the opportunity presents itself to go to Laval with the #Rocket it would be a really great experience. I'm going to wait and see what happens next" #QMJHL @CanadiensMTL
- Stéphane Leroux
The message is out!
In addition to his outstanding playoff run, the Montreal Canadiens' fifth-round pick, 150th overall, in 2021, Roy had a memorable season in the QMJHL.
He finished as the top scorer in the Courteau circuit with 119 points (51 goals) in 66 games.
To see this young talent come to Laval, possibly to help the Rocket to a historic playoff run, would be a huge bonus for the fans and the CH organization. It was unexpected, but it would be a nice surprise.
Will the bosses call on his services?
We'll know soon enough.
