The Montreal Canadiens hit, according to many, a major home run with their fifth round pick that turned out to be QMJHL forward Joshua Roy. Considered as a potential second round pick by many analysts, Roy ultimately fell150th in the draft.
The 17-year-old, who started his junior career with the Saint John Sea Dogs, openly criticized his former team when he was traded to the Sherbrooke Phoenix. Roy would have shown his intention to leave the Sea Dogs notably because of the type of training sessions and the quality of the food on the road. The Saint-Georges-de-Beauce's native wanted to play "on a real junior team", according to him.
Once he arrived in Sherbrooke, the Quebecer did well, collecting 18 points in 20 games with his new club. He should play one more year in the Courteau circuit, since he is only 17 years old.
One thing is for sure, if Roy wanted to play in a real hockey market, he will be well served if he manages to find a position with the Habs in the future.
