The regular season didn't just end in the NHL over the weekend, but in the QMJHL as well and as reported by my colleague Christian Matte of Marqueur.com, it was the first time since the 1998-1999 season that a Canadiens prospect finished atop the league's scoring charts.

The feat was accomplished by none other than Sherbrooke Phoenix forward Joshua Roy, who finished the season with an impressive 51 goals and 68 assists for 119 points in 66 games.

The Quebec forward had quite a game on Sunday afternoon when he scored a hat trick in a 7-6 overtime win over the Val d'Or Foreurs.

Going back to the 1998-1999 season, Mike Ribeiro led the QMJHL in scoring with 167 points, including 67 goals in 69 games.

Another Canadiens prospect, Riley Kidney of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, also reached the 100-point plateau this season and it is also the first time since the 1999-2000 season that at least one Canadiens prospect has reached that plateau. Forwards Michael Ryder, Éric Chouinard and Marc-André Thinel had more than 100 points in that season.

If Chouinard and Thinel were not successful in a Habs uniform, it was the opposite with Ribeiro and Ryder. During the 2003-2004 season, the two forwards finished at the top of the team's scoring charts with 65 points for Ribeiro and 63 points for Ryder. Ryder was even a finalist for the Calder Trophy as the NHL's rookie of the year.

Time will tell if Joshua Roy and Riley Kidney will be successful with the Habs.
