Julien BriseBois and the Lightning schemed to get around another rule and betray Ryan McDonagh?

As you know and as we reported a few days ago, Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois recently traded his defenseman Ryan McDonagh to the Nashville Preds.
In return, Tampa Bay received two players: Philippe Myers and Grant Mismash.
However, in order to complete this trade, BriseBois and the Lightning had to find a way to convince McDonagh to waive his no-trade clause and agree to a deal in Nashville.
On this subject, the excellent journalist Nick Kypreos made a disturbing revelation:
"The way it was described to me was...and I really don't think he (McDonagh) was thrilled to be going to Nashville at this point... and he has some control with the no-trade clause, but the no-trade clause is not a no-move," Nick Kypreos said Monday.
That last point is important. Since McDonagh had a no-trade clause, but not a no-movement clause, Lightning management could place him on waivers.
That's where they schemed everything, to (once again) bend a rule and get around the no-trade clause they signed McDonagh to.
According to Kypreos, Tampa Bay made a deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets to literally put McDonagh on the block.
The Lightning then reportedly made a (secret) deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Jackets made a commitment to the Lightning, to claim McDonagh from waivers. Wow.
"And apparently, if he didn't agree to be traded, he was going to be sent on waivers, and Tampa had a commitment from Columbus to claim him, that's what I heard," Kypreos revealed.
"And now it's 'Do you want to go to Columbus or do you want to go to Nashville?"
Still unbelievable, from BriseBois, towards a guy who gave everything to make your club win two Stanley Cups.
So, basically, either McDonagh was lifting his no-trade clause, to be traded to Nashville, or he was placed on waivers and would have been claimed by Columbus. Ayayaye!
