With the NHL trade deadline fast approaching, Patrick Kane's days and hours appear to be numbered with the Chicago Blackhawks.

And he knows it:

"I'm 34 years old and I find myself with a rebuilding team. I thought we had some good young guys for the future of the team with DeBrincat, Dach and Hagel."

On the other hand, with a major trade in mind, it's going to be a tough task for the Hawks to make sure they get the best return possible.

Only two teams in the running

The two finalist teams to acquire Patrick Kane would indeed finally know.

Kane, who has been at the center of trade rumors for quite some time, would agree to waive his no-trade clause for only two teams:

- the New York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In the case of the Rangers, it seems difficult to consider following the acquisition of Vladimir Tarasenko, and they have almost no leeway under the salary cap.

So you can guess that Toronto Maple Leafs fans are extremely excited about this news. They're surprised, they can't believe it, but most of all they're really happy.

Their team will be the favorite to get their hands on one of the best players in the world.

Kane, 34, was the Chicago Blackhawks' first-ever pick in 2007. He has 35 points in 48 games this season (1215 points in 1155 career games).

He earns $10.5 million per year and will be a free agent this summer.

A file to follow closely!
