As we reported on Wednesday, the Montreal Canadiens made a very interesting trade, acquiring left-handed defenseman Nicolas Beaudin, a first round pick in the 2018 draft.

The organization then immediately announced that Beaudin would have to report to the Rocket of the American Hockey League, and he is expected to play his first game in Laval shortly.

In an interview on BPM Sports, Beaudin revealed that his new general manager, Kent Hughes, made him an important promise:

"They told me that I had been under their radar for a long time, that I had to be patient and that at some point, I will get my chance." -Nicolas Beaudin

Interesting! So we will see him "at some point" with the Montreal Canadiens. Remember that Beaudin recently mentioned that, even though he is left-handed, he prefers to play on the right.

Could he soon replace Chris Wideman, or Jonhatan Kovacevic, in the Habs' lineup? Let's also remember that Beaudin is very mobile and seems to have the potential to drive a power play.

It seems logical to try him in Chris Wideman's role. What do you think?
