It's a rumor that has been circulating for a few days and it would now be confirmed: the Philadelphia Flyers are trying to acquire Jeff Petry.

According to Anthony SanFilippo of Crossing Broad, it's true. Kent Hughes and Chuck Fletcher (GM of the Flyers) did indeed recently talk on the phone to try to find common ground and conclude a trade.

Recall that, according to David Pagnotta, the two most aggressive teams to acquire Petry are: the Dallas Stars and the Philadelphia Flyers.

According to his sources, to make a trade, the GM of the Flyers absolutely wants the Habs to agree to acquire James van Riemsdyk AND that an amount of $ 1 million from Petry's salary be retained by Montreal.

- Van Riemsdyk, 32, had 20 points in 52 games this season (11 goals), but a solid 43 points in 56 games last season (17 goals).

He reminds me of Mike Hoffman. He earns 7 million per season, until 2023.

As for the potential return, the two names that circulate a lot are those of Morgan Frost and Tyson Foerster, two very promising forwards, with great offensive potential.

The 22-year-old Frost was a Flyers first-round pick in 2017. He has seven points in 30 games this season with the Flyers.

The 20-year-old Foerster is a 2020 first-round pick. Last year in the AHL, he had 17 points in 24 games. However, he was injured and had only three points in nine games this season.

Would you like the Habs to do that kind of trade?
